Ben Harvey - staff since 2020

Ben began volunteering at Timber Bay in 2014 while teaching at Buffalo High School and Phoenix Learning Center, Buffalo's alternative learning program. As he worked with struggling youth in both the school setting and at Timber Bay, it was clear to me that so many of the kids in the Buffalo community needed to hear about God's love and forgiveness. He finished his 11th and final year of teaching in the spring of 2020 and joined the Buffalo Timber Bay area that fall.
Ben took over as Area Director as of January 2022 and brings fun and energy to the group. He enjoys teaching our students how to work on cars, camp, and encourages us to get involved in the community around us. We are grateful for the excitement and intentionality that Ben brings to our everyday activities at Timber Bay.
Paul Vorderbruggen - staff since 1993 |
Paul brings over 20 years of experience of working with teenagers with him to the Buffalo Area Timber Bay. He served as an Area Director for Timber Bay for 8 years and as our camp director for 7 and volunteered with Hopkins Timber Bay for 2 1/2 years. He joined the Buffalo Area in 2013 and is making a huge impact. Paul's strength is in building meaningful relationships and listening to people. Paul enjoys taking kids out fishing and working / teaching life skills. He is involved in large group events, camp planning, and small one-one one activities. We are so happy to have Paul with us here in the Buffalo Area working each week with kids from our local communities. |
Leah Freichels - staff since 2011

Leah is such a wonderful part of our team in Buffalo. She adds so much wisdom and perspective to every situation that we encounter at Timber Bay. She has been part of our team as a volunteer for 4 years and now as a staff member for over 10 years. She is vital to many of the things that we are able to do.
She leads middle school after-school activities and camps as well as works with senior high boys and girls. She is involved in planning camps, weekly large group events, and small group activities. She is so proactive and always looking for more ways to make a positive impact in the lives of the people she meets. We are proud of Leah and who she is and what she brings to Buffalo.

Olivia Whitaker- staff since 2013

Olivia volunteered a few summers helping with our younger boys and girls camp when she was still in high school but it was evident that she was a natural mentor for our students. Our team was thrilled when she came on staff in 2013.
Olivia has a history of reaching out to people around her in need. Her ability to truly care about what is going on in other people's lives is evident in how she lives. She is proactive in pursuing relationships with kids and is loved by the girls that she mentors. She is always up for a game, deep conversation, a joke, or any type of hiking. She authentically shares her life and sets a great example of how to be an intentional person while having a ton of fun. Olivia is a vital part of who we are at Buffalo Timber Bay.
